Curious George
Took the girls to see Curious George today with Elsa. This is a family first. Monti laughed almost the entire 1.5 hours. It was awesome to watch her laugh. She was almost annoying to some people but I didn’t care. Dahlia just sat and enjoyed it. Didn’t really laugh much. We then went over to Barnes & Noble after that and thought about getting the $30 book of Curious George stories but we passed and got it for $13 off amazon.com marketplace just now. Good stuff! I can’t wait to watch more movies with the girls. This one was one of the better ones though. Very little ‘tension’ to make the girls afraid, good acting by Will Farrell and and good story. Great animation that stayed true to the books though I’ve not read them much. I recommend it for any kids under 6. (9.5/10)
I was talking with Elsa tonight… About some books that had a profound effect on my psyche. The Perfect Storm by Sebastian Junger was one of them – it basically kick started my ‘disaster’ book obsession – by which followed – Into Thin Air, Into the Wild, Endurance, Between a Rock and a Hard Place and about 3 other ‘lost at sea’ books where people ended up doing cannibalism, blood drinking and the like. The Perfect Storm however had a great blend of speculation, fact and excitement – it really moved me. The last hours of the lives of these fishermen… the horrendous conditions of the sea that night… terrifying and riveting. I highly recommend it (9/10).
I want this – someone buy it for me:

It is a book – Shadow the Cigar Smoking Cat. My mom used to read it to me and I thought it was hilarious. Probably completely NPC.
Monti’s stomach
Monti is completely whacked. She just goes nuts when her stomach shows. I don’t know where this comes from. She has very many peculiarities in this respect… Underwear has to be a size 4… she throws major fits if something doesn’t work right… I’m sensing trouble ahead 😉
The Guardian by Dee Henderson
Hm.. Not the best one I’ve heard in a while, although I liked the narrator. Basically a story about a US Marshall that has to protect a witness… Sounds like a recipe for a book I’d like but it had way too many religious overtones in it. No thanks. (3/10)

Collarbone
Dahlia fell out of bed about 4 nights ago. I’d put her to bed and forgot to put the ‘protective pillow’ on the side where there is no wall. Needless to say she fell off. We heard the BUMP which is never a good sound. 3 seconds later the wailing began. I walked in there and her head was down, feet slightly raised on some pillows or something near the ground. The bed is not very high up but she kept on crying indicating something really hurt. A day or two goes by.. She’s babying it. Then we see some bigtime bruising and she refuses to do anything in gymnastics. Well we finally decide to go to the doctor. Within 3 seconds the doctor goes ‘yep, broken collarbone. Nothing you can do about it – they don’t do slings or anything anymore. Just don’t let her hang or do pushups or anything like that for a while. Poor D. But she’s a champ. She barely lets it bother her.
